ADWNotifier v0.5 adds K9Mail support!

With the ADWNotifier v0.5 release I’ve added support for K9Mail notifications, so you can now get your “whatever-email-provider-you-use” notifications thanks to the great K9Mail dev team.

Don’t you know K9Mail yet? Then try it, it’s simply awesome! :-)

Also I’ve fixed (or tried to) a nasty FC happening on devices without gmail accounts.

Next release will be targeted to add some more settings, so you can manually choose which gmail/email accounts you want to receive notifications for (it currently sums up every account on your device).

Any plans to add notification for the native email app on the Droid X? I use it for corporate email (activesync/exchange).

No if there’s no “public api” on that app, and I think motorola doesn’t do that king of stuff (sadly)

    Hi,

I’ve just updated ADWNotifier to 0.5, and it doesn’t work anymore for me: Launching ADWNotifier to change some settings, only a black screen is shown, and after 10 secondes my phone reboots.
My phone is a Milestone with stock 2.1 update 1 from Motorola. Peharps it is liked to K9 version, I’m using 3.202.

    Best regards.

        Here it is: http://www.sendspace.com/file/mjdx6r
It was made with “adb logcat -v time >logcat.log”

          Thankyou, really useful.
I’ll try to find a solution for that

After updating to ADWNotifier v0.5 it FC on startup. I have cleared the data for the application with no effect. I have sent a crash report via the built in utility if this is helpful as I have no adb right now.

Uninstalling and reinstalling via Market seems to have resolved the issue.

Are you using the latest k9 version?

Yes, the one available on the Google Code site. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Notifier has fixed the issue. I believe it was a permission problem.

ADWNotifier is marked for Android Version 2.0+, any chances to get this for 1.6 (Donut)?

    Hello.
If I turn off the notification for K9, I get it still appears. Reinstall has brought nothing. Use the latest version of K9.

    Greetings

Hi…I just installed this since I saw you support k9 now. The concept is great and since I love ADW Launcher I thought I’d give it a try. However, there appear to still be bugs with k9 notifications. When I first installed, it showed the correct unread count (1)…so I read the msg and the count remained 1. I rebooted to see what might happen and now there’s no number on k9 even though I now have 2 unread messages. I’ll probably keep it because it’ll be great once it works, but it definitely still has a few kinks. Oh…and I tried both the default and the chuck norriz mode and neither change made a positive effect.

I discovered one more useful piece of information. I am actually using a custom shortcut to the k9 mail app. I didn’t like the built in icon, so I used the custom shortcut to make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing. I just noticed that k9 in the app drawer shows a different number than the custom shortcut…but neither are correct. In the app drawer, if I read one, it seems to set the count to zero (even if there are other unread msgs remaining) until I get a new message, then the unread count becomes correct again.

Adwnotifier does not make continuous polling for k9 mail to avoid cpu/battery usage, so it only updates when a new email arrives.

Hi, about this crash bug with the ADW Notify,

What i notice is that if i install ADWN before gmail app it will start to FC, probably cause of the permission change, uninstall ADWN and reinstall will fix the issue.

Yes, the same happens with k9 mail, and already wrote about it on a previous post.
